It was a warm Saturday night. Nick as usual had just finished watching a lovey dovey movie on his laptop. Well that was his norm since he had moved to a new city.
The alarm shook him out of his memories. It was late even for bed as dawn was coming but it did not deter him to strum the song she always wanted to hear him sing but he never did when she was around.
No new friends yet and doesn't seem likely to make any either as he was busy as hell to struggle for a new job.
But he always had time for his guitar and his memories since that was all that was left since he moved here.

She said this because couple of days ago she had mentioned about a guy who was stalking/proposing/persuading her and she always turned to Nick for advice and Nick as always believed that there was love in everyone to be discovered and wanted to prove it to her and proved he did. "As you know, it s been so many days I have been blabbering about this." her voice ever excited.
" I am finally going onsite to UK." she quipped and asked Nick to join her and our group for the party in the evening.
Nick was part happy for her trip and part sad that she will be leaving in a week s time.
He looked outside the glass window of his office. It was slightly drizzling with the evening sun hidden in clouds and had got romantically dark.
He walked back to his cubicle to complete his work and get ready for the evening party.
"Dude!!! So whats the plan." a ping from Peter jumps up on Nick's screen.
"What plan?" Nick replies.
"I know she might have already told you, but we should be getting her something."
"You re right , but i really can't think of anything." Nick with a sigh smiley on the chat.
"Lets meet in an hour and then decide" Peter closes his conversation.
Nick knew its going to get hard. He calls her up. "Can we meet now."
"She says OK." and asks Nick to come to the cafeteria of the office.
Working in the same office and enjoying the meal with each other was their highlight of the day which was going to be ruined.
"Thank god, you met me." she welcomed Nick to the cafeteria.
"I really wanted to tell you something." she said as she ordered for two sandwiches.
Nick wondering, is it what he always wanted to hear that how much she liked him for being the best guy she always wanted to be with.
"I really don't understand Peter, whats wrong with him." she said with an annoying face.
"What did he do?" Nick queried.
"He proposed me and said he liked me a lot" she replied.
Nick was confused, Peter never mentioned it to him and now why was she confiding in him.
"So what did you say to him" Nick asked with a purpose.
"I said, you have always been my friend and I never will have feelings for you." she said bringing a small relief to Nick's apprehensions.

"Oh, cmon he 's just like you for me not more than a friend, Even though I like you more since I trust you more" . These words acted like a knife being dug into Nick's heart.
He knew, he had jumped into liking a gal so early after his recent break up.
But he mentally reasoned as she used to hang out with him all the time, laughed on all the jokes and always had her by his side for anything.
