Nick was the dynamic guy that you always find in a city bred environment.
Sitting on the bed staring at the guitar, thinking and looking back on his life...
Today being her birthday...
First time in so many years he hasn't wished her...
But i guess if everything in life was perfect we wouldn't cherish the good moments.

3 years ago.... few months before her birthday...
"I still love you!!"...
The expression on her face changed from being sad to being guilty...as Nick uttered those words.
Nick couldn't bear to see her face like that... he wanted that smile back on her face for which he would die for
But even more unbearable was the fact that this might be the last time he might see that heart stopping smile of hers...
She did not say a word was just looking away ...
Nick pondered " Is it possible for you "
She retorted " Why can't we continue like this .... I don't wanna lose you as a friend"
Nick with his heart in pain asked the question he needed an answer to for almost 2 and half years " Did you ever love me?"
She looked at him . His eyes moist but waiting for an answer this time.
The golden sunshine from the setting sun hitting her face and the breeze which was cooler than usual in an April summer might have made her eyes glistened but then she looked down and said " I don't know Nick . Love is a strong feeling and I have always had and have feelings for you. But then it is not possible"
"Can't you even try" Nick tried to convince her.
"I am sorry Nick"
Nick looked away trying to control the pain and his heart was full of it.
He took out the box containing a beautiful necklace not as beautiful as her which he had bought for her while he was away from her ...
Gave it to her... saying.. "This is one of the last things i would like to give"
She opened it and had a look which said Why are you making this hard for me.
She pleaded "We can still meet"
Nick looked her in the eye "I can never be friends with you. You will always be the best i ever had and can never think of you as a friend"
She replied "You will always be a special person in my life . I can never feel for anyone the way i felt for you."
Nick saw the conviction in her eyes which made it difficult for him to forget her.
Just before boarding the subway Nick looked back for one last time at her ,she was almost in tears... He smiled and she smiled back.....
He touched that lovely dimple which appeared whenever she smiled and said "Keep smiling always because its this dimple on which I am alive "
The subway train arrived and Nick boarded with the heaviest of heart and looked back at the crowd where she was standing and said to her "Hope to see you happy"
The cellphone rang with a message tone bringing Nick out of the memory
The message was a forward from his friend which read "Sometimes we maintain silence to protect one beautiful relation..... But too much silence may create a distance in every beautiful relation!"
